Debt Repayment Tips
If you are really serious about getting yourself out of debt then you've got to get yourself in the right mindset. What exactly is the right mindset for getting out of debt, I hear you say? Well, for the time being you can forget about upgrading your computer, changing the car or going on holiday. All that cash that you would normally have spent is only going to get used for one thing - repaying your debts.
You've first got to get yourself in the right frame of mind and come to the realization that your finances are in a mess. Once you've got there you can start to address the problem. But it will be tough, you can be sure of that! Don't be tempted to treat yourself with a holiday, just because you're stressed! Here are a few guidelines that will help keep you on the straight and narrow while you repay your debts.
- Things You Should Do
-
- Set up all your scheduled payments to leave your bank account the day after you get paid so that you can't spend all your money!
- Try and get extra hours at work or find an second job to raise some extra cash for repayments.
- If you have an extra room, why not rent it out and use the extra cash to repay your debts?
- Clear out your old junk that you never use and take it to a car boot sale or post it for sale on eBay.
- Things Your Should Not Do
-
- Don't use a debt counsellor that charges a fee. Use that money to repay your debts.
- Stay away from anything slightly dodgy looking from loan companies you have never heard of.
- Shopping for designer clothes is banned - they're too expensive and look the same as clothes from a cheaper shop.
- Don't book any holidays, even if it is a fantastic deal!
